The piles of fence parts pushed as rubble to the street for pickup would seem to bear me out. I don't think you can find a better fence. Replacement parts were received within two days of requesting them. This broke one of the gates loose, which was then caught by the winds and was damaged. This knocked over out AC which fell against one of the two gates that close over the driveway. The wind was accompanied by a tidal surge that by the time it reached our home was down to approximately three and a half feet high. I had a spare top beam and extra staves in the garage and was able to repair the section in twenty minutes. The fallen trees drove down through the top rail and drove four staves four foot into the ground. The only damage came from two forty foot tall palms which were blown down and landed on one section of the Rainier portion. Sustained winds of 163 mph were recorded with gusts exceeding 200 mph. A month and a half ago Harvey blew through town with the eye wall passing directly over our home. The fence was installed as directed to withstand 130 mph winds. "We purchased 40 sections of 6' Rainier grey and 10 sections of 6' Vicksburg grey and white fence from Vinyl Fence Wholesaler/Texas Privacy Fence a few years ago. Thank you Vinyl Fence Wholesaler!! Our fence also has a transferable lifetime warranty. Our new fence is wind certified up to 130 mph and added actual value to our home. I can tell you first hand the fence is a giant leap up over the low grade junk you can get from my local retail stores. Now we have the most beautiful fence in our neighborhood and we are telling all of our neighbors to contact this company. we placed our order and we received it 4 days later! They told us to fill out a quote request online or to call back. Severe Weather 2-in x 4-in x 10-ft Western. They were extremely helpful and patient with us as we knew we wanted a privacy fence, however did not know which one. They suggested some fence styles and asked me to go through their web site to pick out the style that we liked best. They asked for the details on our project and then took the time to walk through the layout. Well it was the complete opposite with Vinyl Fence Wholesaler. You know when you go to a big box store, and you have to find someone to help and they know nothing about the product they sell. I have to say I was very surprised as I was immediately connected with a fence expert that was very kind and helpful. Our house has beautiful lifetime siding so why would they install a wood fence? They could have charged more for the new homes when they built them if they would have put up a beautiful vinyl fence. I do not understand how a contractor can build such beautiful homes and then wrap it with wood fence! If they would have spent a little more I would not have had to replace my fence! Some contractors are really stupid. We had a beautiful home with an ugly grayish warping wood fence. We bought our home in 2016 and knew that we would have to change this as it was the first thing you noticed when your rolled up. In the fourth edition of the test (WAIS-IV), the subtests Digit Span and Letter-Number Sequencing are expanded for better measurement of working memory (WM). The Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS) is one of the most frequently used tests among psychologists. Measuring Working Memory With Digit Span and the Letter-Number Sequencing Subtests From the WAIS-IV: Too Low Manipulation Load and Risk for Underestimating Modality Effects. Results supported measurement invariance and it was concluded that forward and backward digit span scores should be interpreted as measures of the same cognitive ability. Measurement invariance tests of the precise numerical generalization of trait estimation across groups. The model for Digit Span was then cross-validated in a seizure disorders sample (n = 223) by replication of the CFA and by examination of measurement invariance. Results suggested that four correlated factors underlie Digit Span, reflecting easy and hard items in both forward and backward presentation orders. The present study explored the dimensionality of the Wechsler Memory Scale-III Digit Span (forward and backward) items in a sample of heterogeneous neuroscience patients (n = 267) using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) for dichotomous items. Some published research suggests that Digit Span forward should be interpreted differently from Digit Span backward. The Digit Span subtest from the Wechsler Scales is used to measure Freedom from Distractibility or Working Memory. In addition, the more visually oriented Picture Completion subtest along with the verbally loaded National Adult Reading Test were administered. This study investigated the effectiveness of the WAIS-III Digit Span subtest to predict the everyday attention of 75 participants with heterogeneous neurological conditions who were administered the Digit Span subtest as well as the ecologically valid Test of Everyday Attention. Strong specificity and moderate sensitivity were observed, and optimal cutting scores are recommended.ĭigit Span as a measure of everyday attention: a study of ecological validity. Similarly, no differences were found between the Digit Span subtest from the WAIS or Wechsler Memory Scale (WMS). No significant differences were found between RDS and DS-ACSS. RDS and DS-ACSS effectively discriminated between honest responders and dissimulators, with average weighted effect sizes of 1.34 and 1.08, respectively. Twenty-four studies utilizing the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS) Digit Span subtest-either the Reliable Digit Span (RDS) or Age-Corrected Scaled Score (DS-ACSS) variant-for malingering detection were meta-analytically reviewed to evaluate their effectiveness in detecting malingered neurocognitive dysfunction. In short, Giotto Di Bondone's painting Descent into Limbo is a masterpiece that stands out for its unique artistic style, masterful composition, vibrant color palette, and fascinating story. The work was cut into pieces and sold as souvenirs after the chapel was destroyed in an earthquake in the 15th century. The painting was originally much larger than its current size of 45 x 44 cm. This impressive ability led Giotto to be considered one of the most important artists of his time.Īlso, there is a little-known aspect of the painting that relates to its original size. It is said that Giotto was hired to paint the Chapel of the Arena after the owner of the chapel saw him drawing a perfect circle freehand. The story behind the painting is also fascinating. The dark, gloomy tones at the bottom of the painting contrast with the bright, light tones at the top, creating a sense of hope and redemption. Giotto used a rich and vibrant color palette to create an intense and dramatic atmosphere. The color of the paint is another interesting aspect. The composition is dynamic and dramatic, accentuating the sense of movement and emotion. The figure of Christ is in the center of the painting, surrounded by a crowd of damned souls. The same is true of the Descent into Limbo. The Last Supper, which is smaller than the rest, has been cut and planed at both top and bottom where the edges are now sharp. The Presentation appears to have been cut at top and bottom. The work is a representation of Christ's fall into hell and his subsequent resurrection. by 43 the Descent into Limbo 45.5 by 44 and the Pentecost 45.5 by 44 cm. Font sizes range from very large to miniscule in comparison to other blocks of text on the page.Įlement sizes coupled with negative space can give the illusion of importance. Their homepage recently underwent some changes but it still looks absolutely phenomenal. These are much more noticeable because of the negative space and bright colors emanating from each graphic.Īnd of course everyone should know about the famed Tuts+ Network. Just below these paragraphs are a series of logos with links out to pages discussing his website. The paragraph text is relatively condensed and while it’s still readable, it feels more like background info. There’s plenty of space before & after the header so nothing else in that area can become a distraction.Īlso notice some of the text and graphical elements on his “about” page. The big heading text stands out immediately because of the size and distance between other elements. Take a quick peek at the portfolio of Michael Wong which also breaks up content into horizontal sections. But the point is that having more space between an element forces it to stand out against the overall composition. Of course you don’t want to decrease visibility so much that elements are crammed together. Negative space can be used to increase or decrease visibility of certain elements on the page. These elements all have different levels of importance based on their size and relationship to each other. Think of different areas in a typical website from the logo, navigation, headers & image slideshows. Perhaps the greatest purpose of composition-related negative space is to distinguish between tiered page elements. But as a designer you’ll need to train your eye to see the perfect values for certain font sizes and layout components because these properties will change with each new project. It certainly is a double-edged sword where too much or too little causes havoc. Keep negative space by your side as a classic design technique and remember that it really does want to help. When in doubt try various alternatives to see what fits best. This means having a bit more space in blocks of text may look better than having not enough space. So as a beginner you’ll need to find a balance.īut from a general perspective it can be better to overshoot than undershoot negative space. The tricky part is that too much negative space can also be a problem. Page text especially needs a good amount of space or else content becomes almost unreadable. Empty Space is Not FruitlessĪn important place to start is that negative space is not a bad thing! Some designers think that it’s necessary to fill up most of the white space on a page in order to add more features, more images, or make the page smaller.Īll this does is cramp everything together so it looks more confusing and difficult to read. In the beginning it can be a tricky subject but once it “clicks” you’ll never forget how to use negative space in a positive light. In this post I’ll cover some different methods for how to incorporate negative space in your own design work. Web design uses negative space to create distance between elements and allow the page to breathe. Negative space is a key component to any great visual composition. The use of white space can be difficult to explain but it’s much more obvious via example. One such principle is negative space, also known as white space. There are many fundamental principles of art & design which are crucial for every web designer to understand. In 1970 the Colts, with Unitas under center, would return to the Super Bowl in 1970. Despite this strong season and the return of Unitas during the game the Colts lost the Super Bowl to the AFL's New York Jets and their quarterback Joe Namath. The Colts marched to a league-best 13–1 record and Morrall was named the 1968 MVP. The Colts would turn to backup quarterback Earl Morrall to lead the offense. In the final game of the 1968 preseason, the muscles in Unitas' arm were torn when he was hit by a member of the Dallas Cowboys defense. With Unitas under center the Colts also won 2 NFL Championships and a Super Bowl. In this time Unitas was named to 10 Pro-Bowls, and won the MVP award 3 times. Over the next 16 seasons Unitas would start 182 games for the Colts. The following year Shaw broke his leg in the fourth game of the season against the Chicago Bears allowing former Pittsburgh Steeler quarterback Johnny Unitas a chance to start. George Shaw became the first Colts quarterback to complete a full season. The Colts struggled early on to find consistency and stability at the quarterback position with 5 different quarterbacks starting at least one game in the first two seasons of the franchise. Indianapolis then traded a 3rd-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft for longtime Atlanta Falcons star Matt Ryan, who started at quarterback in each of the Colts' first seven games to begin the 2022 season. He started all seventeen of the Colts' games in the league's first season in the new format, before being traded to the Washington Commanders. Brissett signed as a free agent with the Miami Dolphins, and Wentz became the Colts' starting quarterback. On February 18, 2021, the Colts traded a 2021 third round pick and a 2022 second round conditional pick to the Philadelphia Eagles for quarterback Carson Wentz. Prior to the 2020 season, the Colts signed free agent Philip Rivers, making Brissett again the backup quarterback. Following Luck's retirement prior to the 2019 season, Brissett became the Colts full-time starting quarterback. Originally meant to serve as a backup, Jacoby Brissett ended up starting 15 games for the Colts in the 2017 season due to Luck being injured, and threw for over 3,000 yards and 13 touchdowns he returned to his backup role the following year. Manning's tenure was followed by Andrew Luck from 2012 to 2018, until his sudden retirement during the 2019 preseason. The Colts' starting quarterback from 1998 to 2011 was 5-time MVP Peyton Manning. The franchise's first starting quarterback was Fred Enke, who started 9 games in total for the Colts. Unitas also won the MVP award three times in his career. The Colts' past starting quarterbacks include Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Johnny Unitas, as well as the Associated Press National Football League Most Valuable Player Award (MVP) winners Earl Morrall and Bert Jones. The Colts have had 33 starting quarterbacks (QB) in the history of their franchise. After 31 seasons in Baltimore, Colts owner Robert Irsay moved the team to Indianapolis. In October 2001, the security police raid on R2 office resulted in public anger and subsequent mass street demonstrations against the government's pressure on independent media forced Eduard Shevardnadze to fire his entire cabinet. It has been considered by many as a political murder related with his programme "Night Courier" and investigations of allegations of official corruption. Giorgi Sanaia, Georgia’s most popular TV journalist, who worked for R2, was murdered in July 2001. The Georgian authorities made several attempts to shut R2 down. The channel shut down due to allegedly losing its license a year later. It was formed in 1994 and had been in a strong opposition to Eduard Shevardnadze’s government since then. The independence of the channel was questioned in recent years, with many suggesting that it was biased in favor of the former ruling party UNM. Khalvashi stated that the channel was illegally seized under the United National Movement leadership, while Rustavi 2 accused the government of pressuring the courts to close the broadcaster. The verdict of the court will allow for the enforcement of the verdict of the Georgian Supreme Court to return 100 per cent of the channel’s shares to its former owner Kibar Khalvashi, who won the case back in 2017.
